Tracks From My Friends is about a wonderful corner of social media. That delightful space on our messaging apps where a friend just sends along a song. There is no public audience post; it is not one person declaring their tastes to a swath of followers; the song is not digitally traded in hope of hits and likes. Texting a song to a friend is signal of intimacy, that you think you know your friend on a level where you can please their artistic sensibilities. In a world trading human relationships with superficial identity labeling and Instagram status symbology, diving into each others artistic predilections feels increasingly important. Ironically, I will now be bastardizing that whole process by taking the tracks out of my messaging app, washing them of unique acquaintance, and posting them here. Its 2019, and friends are less important than followers. Enjoy.
